In-Character Rules
Oh, yes, the ever-so-fun read that everyone loves to do when they join up on a new site! But not to worry, we’ll try to make this as painless and basic as possible – there’s no hidden code here to put in your biographies – fact of the matter is, it’ll be clear soon enough who’s actually read through these and who hasn’t. Just make sure you’re following these, since they’re really only here to make your experience enjoyable just as much as it will help the site run smoothly. So! Let’s get started~
General Rules
(1) First things first – let’s all be reasonable human beings, yeah? That means, please be respectful to the staff, and more importantly, your fellow members. This is the biggie, because quite frankly we all just want to have fun. We’re here to write, make friends, and create something incredible and unique together. Not to gang up on each other, or make enemies, or be total buttmunchers. Be inclusive, be nice, and if there are any problems amongst members, please let the staff know. We understand that we're human beings, we’re all infallible and we all make mistakes. But let’s not be rude to each other or do bad things on purpose, yeah?
(2) This is a site that deals with a time period where there’s a lot of dark stuff getting thrown around. That being said, do not take IC drama to OOC, because let’s face it: some players enjoy being asshats (pardon the language). That does not mean that the player themselves is one such person. So respect that, and keep nasty things in-character, ‘cause nobody likes nastiness elsewhere.
(3) When you lovelies are registering, go ahead and use whatever username you will, but make sure that your display name is first name last name of the character for that account. We’re a one-account, one-character sort of place (which only means it’s a character per account, as you’ll see in a minute), and while you can throw the middle name in there as well, only the first and last are required to be visible~
(4) There is a site where there is no character limit – so yes, that means let your creativity reign when the muse strikes you! However, keep in mind that we also expect, then, for you to keep all characters active. Don’t bite off more than you can chew, and end up keeping all these threads with other members stalled because you have the character-making disease. However, in lieu of no character limit, we as the staff reserve the right to tell any member that we feel is character spamming (creating too many in a short span of time) to slow down or take it easy. And don’t worry, we will hold ourselves to this same standard, we won’t be those admins~
(5) Please dun be running around advertising other sites that you’re on unless it’s in the appropriate board – essentially, soliciting members in the c-box and around the forums outside the advertising boards will not be tolerated. This is, mostly, out of respect for the site. Please don’t run around talking about a site you’re creating around the board, it’s also not very nice to the staff, who have worked pretty hard to make this one.
(6) Please do not be constantly foulmouthed in the c-box, just ‘cause, well, we like to be civilized here. Sure, we all use bad words (or at least, most of us do, I know we as staff do too), but try and keep them to a minimum. We aren’t saying it isn’t allowed, but please try to be respectful. Not all members are as old as you are, and some may even have an aversion to curse words and the like, so let’s just all keep each other in mind, yeah?
(7) This is something simple, and I’m sure you’ve seen it before, but please refrain from creating plot charts, or interacting with any characters ICly before your application has been accepted. This is a pretty easy one, just hold your horses to get started (we know, it’s exciting!) with plotting in the plot boards and posting ICly until the staff gets to your application. Please give staff 48 hours after your application is completed to look it over and make a decision. If it’s been 48 hours and staff hasn’t so much as taken a peek at it, please message us politely and let us know, so we can get to it! Thank you kindly. <3
(8) Finally and most importantly, be inclusive and have fun. Don’t leave new members hanging, and everyone should enjoy their time here! We’re sure you’re all marvelous people, and we would like to be able to enjoy everyone’s company and writing, same as you would like to, I’m sure. This is a roleplaying experience for us as much as it is for you, so let’s be an awesome-sauce community and do some writing!

In-Character Rules
(1) As you’ve hopefully noticed by now, this is a site with a plot based in the 1920s, and as the brief guide that the staff has compiled for you should point to some pretty big points about the time period. That being said, when making and writing your characters, please remember to keep things relatively realistic. We’ll leave you to determining what, based on the materials we’ve given you and your prior knowledge, would best be seen as realistic, just keep in mind that when creating a character, the staff will be keeping an eye out for this as well~
(2) This one is a rule that we’re sure most, if not all, of you have seen before: no godmoding or powerplaying in-character. If you don’t know what either of those are, here’s a brief explanation: no character is invincible in a fight or perfect, so don’t play it that way. And you should never dictate what another played character is doing within a thread, without the player’s previous permission. (If you ask if so-and-so can do something, and the player says yes, then that is a different situation entirely~) Police yourselves on that one, ‘cause nobody likes those sorts of things, I’m sure.
(3) No Mary-Sues or Gary-Stus. Those just aren’t fun kinds of characters, so please dun make them. You can Google those terms if you’re not entirely sure what they mean. <3
(4) For posts, there is no word count, but what we do ask for is that posts should be at least one well-written paragraph. We ask for quality over quantity here, and by that, we really just mean that we want to make sure your roleplaying partner has something to reply to. There will be varying levels of roleplaying skill and experience here, from intermediate to extremely advanced, so keep that in mind when RPing.
(5) Obey the Proboards TOS. This site has a PG-13 rating, and make sure you're keeping that in mind when you're writing!
(6) When it comes to plotting, we encourage all kinds of plots here on TPR! Especially if you have an idea that might contribute to the overarching plot of the site. However, if there is something major going on in your character’s life that you want to see happen, you must be aware that no major plots can happen without staff notification and approval. For example, if your character is about to stage a coup in an attempt to overthrow a don? Staff needs to know about it first, and give you the go-ahead, just to make sure it won’t conflict with anything else the staff might be working on behind the scenes. Tiny, our plotting mastermind, has many a marvelous plans for the site.
